MURREE, Jan 28: Deputy Commissioner Murree, Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, has instructed the contractor to finish the Mall Road façade enhancement project by June 30, emphasizing the importance of adhering to construction standards and warning of stringent consequences for any delays.
DC Shirazi, along with Director General of the Walled City Authority Lahore, Najam Saqib, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the project. During their visit, they were briefed on the progress, quality, and timelines. He also instructed a reduction in the height of walls at Nighat Zar Park, responding to traders’ concerns to safeguard business and tourism. Additionally, the site designated for a new food street near Marhaba Chowk was inspected.
Assurances were given to traders, including representatives from the Traders’ Association and Hotel Association, that their concerns would be swiftly addressed. The officials highlighted the project’s role in boosting tourism and improving the city’s aesthetic appeal, stressing the importance of consulting all stakeholders.
The Mall Road façade enhancement project is overseen by the Walled City Authority Lahore and includes repainting shop facades and signboards, relocating overhead electric wires underground, and installing tuff tiles. The project also features the addition of flower beds, greenery, and designated seating areas to better accommodate tourists.
