LAHORE, Feb 05: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken action following an incident in Rawalpindi where a young girl was injured by a kite string. She has requested a detailed report from the Commissioner of Rawalpindi.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Chief Minister reiterated that the Basant festival will only be celebrated in Lahore, while kite flying is strictly prohibited in other parts of Punjab. She stressed the importance of preventing the use of dangerous and banned kite strings to ensure that a festival of joy does not turn into a tragedy.
She instructed the authorities to rigorously enforce the law and demanded strict measures against those involved in the use and sale of prohibited kite strings to protect public safety.
