Free Medical Camp in Chachro, Tharparkar Benefits Over 5,700 People

A free medical camp, organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH) and the University of Modern Sciences (UMS), Tando Muhammad Khan, concluded successfully in Chachro, Tharparkar. The two-day event provided essential healthcare services and humanitarian aid to the local population in this remote region of Sindh.
The medical camp received an overwhelming response, treating 2,162 patients on the first day and 3,550 on the second, amounting to a total of 5,712 beneficiaries.

This strong turnout underscores the growing trust of the community and the camp’s success. A dedicated team of specialist doctors from disciplines such as ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, gynaecology, general surgery, and general medicine offered free consultations and treatments. On-the-spot diagnostic facilities ensured timely and effective care, including two successful deliveries, highlighting the importance of maternal and child healthcare in the area.
Medical Supplies Distribution in Chachro
In addition to medical services, organizers distributed mineral water, juices, clothes, shoes, and other essentials to patients and their attendants, offering relief to underserved families.
The camp was made possible through the collaboration of OIC-COMSTECH, UMS, Gourmet Foods, Tharparkar’s District Administration, and the Sindh Government’s District Health Department. Leading this initiative was Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, who prioritized Chachro for basic healthcare service delivery and health awareness. Extra medicines were transferred to the Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital, Chachro-Tharparkar, to support ongoing local healthcare efforts.
Community members and district officials lauded the initiative as a crucial stride toward reducing healthcare disparities in remote regions. The successful operation of the medical camp reaffirms COMSTECH’s dedication to humanitarian service and enhancing healthcare access for marginalized communities.
