LCCI Initiates Safety Campaign for Basant Festival in Lahore Markets

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has launched a significant safety and awareness campaign to enhance public safety and traffic awareness during the Basant festival. Special camps have been established in Lahore’s Hall Road and Badami Bagh markets as part of this endeavor.

Through this initiative, LCCI is distributing free safety equipment, including helmets, side mirrors, and safety rods, to citizens to mitigate potential risks associated with kite flying and traffic during the festival.

LCCI President Faheem ur Rehman Saigol, along with Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, Vice President Khurram Lodhi, former President Muhammad Ali Mian, Executive Committee members, and trade leaders from Hall Road, attended the event. The participants praised the initiative for its timely and effective contribution to public welfare.

President Saigol emphasized that while Basant is culturally significant, safeguarding lives and property is paramount. He recalled past incidents involving unregulated kite string use and careless traffic behavior that led to fatalities. He stressed the importance of collective action and practical measures to prevent such occurrences. With this in mind, LCCI has launched this awareness and safety equipment distribution campaign across major city markets.

He further stated that wearing helmets can save lives for motorcyclists. Moreover, side mirrors and safety rods can help minimize traffic accidents and protect citizens from hazardous kite strings during Basant. LCCI hopes traders and citizens will collaborate to foster a safe and positive Basant experience.

Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh explained that this effort extends beyond a single day, forming part of a larger campaign to increase social awareness. He highlighted the essential role of the business community in collaborating with the government for societal betterment.

Vice President Khurram Lodhi noted that public safety and traffic security require ongoing efforts, affirming LCCI’s commitment to continue such initiatives.

Former President Muhammad Ali Mian and Executive Committee members expressed their appreciation for the campaign, noting LCCI’s leadership in industry, trade, and social responsibility. Traders from Hall Road and Badami Bagh expressed gratitude to LCCI, acknowledging that such initiatives will significantly enhance public awareness and reduce accidents during Basant.
