RAWALPINDI, Jan 31: Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan emphasized the crucial role of education and the youth in driving Pakistan’s progress, particularly in the field of technology. He encouraged students to study the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to cultivate positive character traits.
During the 7th Convocation of HITEC University at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad, the governor stressed that with 64% of Pakistan’s population being youth, the nation’s future heavily depends on their potential and efforts. He congratulated the graduates and their parents, noting that HITEC University alumni are making significant contributions to technological advancements and are employed at renowned institutions both nationally and internationally.
Sardar Saleem Haider Khan praised Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the ultimate role model and urged graduates to delve into Seerat-un-Nabi to develop constructive character traits.
He commended the Vice Chancellor and faculty for their dedication to academic excellence, which has enhanced the university’s reputation. The overall academic performance and development of the institution were described as gratifying.
The ceremony awarded 1,166 degrees across various programs, including 14 PhD, 93 MS, and 1,059 undergraduate degrees in fields such as Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Civil, Biomedical, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, Islamic Studies, and Mathematics.
Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S. Kamran Afaq, in his address, outlined the university’s achievements over the past two years. He announced the launch of new programs, including Civil Engineering, BS Biomedical Engineering, MS Computer Engineering, PhD Computer Science, and PhD Computer Engineering. He also highlighted the establishment of a High Voltage Research Laboratory for Electrical (Power) Engineering students—a facility available at only a few engineering universities in Pakistan.
The Governor distributed medals and degrees to the graduating students, celebrating their achievements and the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in higher education.
