RDA Enforces Mandatory Safety Measures at Rawalpindi Construction Sites

The Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Kinza Murtaza, announced on Friday strict safety protocols for all construction sites under RDA jurisdiction. These directives, mandated by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, aim to enhance safety across Rawalpindi.

All construction sites are required to be properly fenced or barricaded, equipped with functional CCTV cameras, and sufficiently lit during nighttime. Clear safety signboards must be installed, and workers are obliged to adhere to prescribed safety protocols and standards rigorously.

The DG instructed RDA directorates to conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance, warning that any violations would result in strict legal repercussions, including the sealing of sites and the imposition of penalties without discrimination.

“Protecting the lives and property of the public and laborers is the government’s top priority, and no negligence will be tolerated,” she emphasized, highlighting the importance of these measures amidst ongoing development activities and increased public movement near construction zones.

Developers, contractors, and site managers were urged to take personal responsibility for the full implementation of these directives. The RDA will also engage stakeholders to promote construction safety and enhance inter-departmental coordination.

In emergencies, citizens are advised to reach out to the RDA helpline at 051-9334904.
