Lahore High Court Gives Police Until February 9 to Find Missing Sahiwal Girl

LAHORE, January 29: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has provided an extension to the police, granting them until February 9 to locate a girl missing from Sahiwal, during the hearing of a petition aimed at ensuring her recovery.
The petition was filed by Nadir Ali and was heard by LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum.
In the court proceedings, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sahiwal Ayaz Saleem reported to the court as per judicial instructions. He mentioned that he had been newly assigned to the post and requested additional time to examine the case details.
The Chief Justice acknowledged the request for more time but expressed concern regarding the actions of the investigating officers. She instructed that all officers dealing with such cases be made aware of their critical nature, stressing that whether the child is a boy or a girl, any failure by the police would not be accepted.
The court also noted the police’s assertion that a USB containing the girl’s CCTV footage was lost on court premises. However, an investigation led by the Sessions Judge disclosed that the USB was never delivered to the court. The circumstances surrounding the girl’s disappearance will be further investigated.
Consequently, the hearing was adjourned to February 9, allowing the police additional time to recover the missing girl.
