KARACHI, Jan 28: Senior journalist and Karachi Press Club (KPC) member Zulf Pirzado was honored with deep respect at a commemorative event held at the KPC on Wednesday to mark his second death anniversary.
Speakers paid rich tributes to the late journalist for his lifelong contributions to journalism and his unwavering commitment to social justice.
Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili, Dr. Jabbar Khatak, and the journalist’s daughter, Virsa Pirzado, addressed the gathering.
The speakers described Zulf Pirzado as a professional, principled, and dedicated journalist who consistently advocated for societal betterment and the rights of ordinary people.
Zulf Pirzado served as Deputy Editor of the Sindhi daily Awami Awaz and passed away in January 2024.
Reflecting on his political struggle, speakers noted that Pirzado had been a political activist since his student days and was imprisoned during the dictatorial regime of General Zia-ul-Haq for his political beliefs. Despite his incarceration, he appeared for his ninth-grade examinations from Karachi Prison as a political prisoner.
KPC Vice President Irshad Khokhar, along with Mahesh Kumar, Abdullah Sarohi, Javed Mahar, Aijaz Mangi, Younis Mahar, Zulfiqar Wahoocho, Abida Ghanghro, Aamir Latif, Imtiaz Faran, Waris Raza, and others, also addressed the gathering, paying heartfelt tributes to the late journalist.
