Karachi, Jan 28: Senior journalist and member of the Karachi Press Club (KPC), Zulf Pirzado, was honored with deep respect during a commemorative event at the KPC on Wednesday, marking his second death anniversary.
During the event, speakers paid rich tribute to the late journalist for his lifelong dedication to journalism and his unwavering commitment to social justice.
Speeches were made by KPC President Fazil Jamili, Dr. Jabbar Khatak, and the journalist’s daughter, Virsa Pirzado. They described Zulf Pirzado as a professional, principled, and dedicated journalist who consistently advocated for societal betterment and the rights of the common people.
In his professional career, Zulf Pirzado served as the Deputy Editor of the Sindhi daily ‘Awami Awaz’. He passed away in January 2024.
Reflecting on his political struggles, speakers recalled that Pirzado was active in politics since his student days and was imprisoned for his political beliefs during the dictatorial rule of General Zia-ul-Haq. Despite being detained, he managed to appear for his ninth-grade examinations from Karachi Prison as a political prisoner.
The event also featured addresses from KPC Vice President Irshad Khokhar, Mahesh Kumar, Abdullah Sarohi, Javed Mahar, Aijaz Mangi, Younis Mahar, Zulfiqar Wahoocho, Abida Ghanghro, Aamir Latif, Imtiaz Faran, Waris Raza, and others, all of whom paid heartfelt tributes to the late journalist.
