BEIJING, Jan 30: China’s President Xi Jinping and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have agreed to develop a long-term, stable, and comprehensive strategic partnership during their discussions in Beijing.
President Xi emphasized the importance of strengthening dialogue and cooperation between China and the UK, both of which are permanent UN Security Council members and significant economic powers, to foster global peace and stability, enhance economic growth, and improve living standards.
He advocated for mutual respect and constructive management of differences, urging both nations to transform their cooperative potential into tangible benefits for themselves and the global community.
President Xi also reiterated China’s commitment to peaceful development, noting that the country has never initiated a war or occupied foreign land.
Prime Minister Starmer expressed his intent to build a more developed relationship with China to bolster the UK economy, suggesting a reset after years of strained relations. He characterized China as a crucial global player and highlighted the need for cooperation while engaging in meaningful dialogue on areas of disagreement.
