KARACHI, Jan 30: Over five thousand individuals from families registered with the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) have enrolled in skill training programs designed to develop market-oriented vocational skills. The aim is to improve their livelihood opportunities and promote self-sufficiency.
During her visit to the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Human Resource Research and Development Board (BBSHRRDB) in Karachi, Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of BISP, was briefed on the ongoing initiatives and training programs. Chairman of BBSHRRDB, Tameezuddin Kherro, along with Secretary Munawar Ali Mithani, informed her that the registration of over 5000 BISP-registered individuals has been completed. These individuals will receive vocational training across various trades with the objective of providing them with livelihood opportunities and facilitating self-sufficiency.
Senator Rubina Khalid highlighted that skill development was a key vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, who viewed skills as valuable assets. She emphasized the high global demand for skilled human resources and the necessity to provide standard skill development training to youth and women in relevant fields.
The BISP Chairperson pointed out the significant employment opportunities available at both national and international levels in sectors such as hospitality, residential, and health care. She urged the incorporation of internationally recognized certifications into training programs to enhance skill development in these fields.
The meeting also discussed in detail the provision of skill training and employment opportunities for deserving women and their family members under the Benazir Hunarmand Program. Further collaboration and cooperation between the two institutions were also on the agenda.
