KARACHI, Jan 28: Esteemed journalist and Karachi Press Club (KPC) member Zulf Pirzado was commemorated with deep respect during a program at the KPC on Wednesday, marking the second anniversary of his passing.
Speakers at the event expressed profound admiration for the late journalist’s lifelong dedication to journalism and his steadfast commitment to social justice.
The memorial was addressed by Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili, Dr. Jabbar Khatak, and the daughter of the late journalist, Virsa Pirzado.
The speakers described Zulf Pirzado as a professional, principled, and committed journalist who consistently advocated for societal improvement and the rights of ordinary citizens.
The late Zulf Pirzado held the position of Deputy Editor at the Sindhi daily Awami Awaz. He passed away in January 2024.
Speakers reminisced about his political struggles, mentioning that Pirzado had been politically active since his student years. During the dictatorship of General Zia-ul-Haq, he was imprisoned for his political convictions. Despite his incarceration, he managed to take his ninth-grade examinations from Karachi Prison as a political prisoner.
KPC Vice President Irshad Khokhar, along with Mahesh Kumar, Abdullah Sarohi, Javed Mahar, Aijaz Mangi, Younis Mahar, Zulfiqar Wahoocho, Abida Ghanghro, Aamir Latif, Imtiaz Faran, Waris Raza, and others, also addressed the gathering, offering heartfelt tributes to the late journalist.
