KARACHI, Jan 28: Senior journalist and esteemed member of the Karachi Press Club (KPC), Zulf Pirzado, was fondly remembered during a commemorative program at the KPC on Wednesday, marking his second death anniversary.
Speakers paid heartfelt tributes to the late journalist for his lifelong dedication to journalism and unwavering commitment to social justice.
The event featured addresses by Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili, Dr. Jabbar Khatak, and Virsa Pirzado, the daughter of the deceased journalist.
Speakers praised Zulf Pirzado as a professional, principled, and dedicated journalist who consistently advocated for societal betterment and the rights of ordinary people.
Zulf Pirzado had served as Deputy Editor of the Sindhi daily Awami Awaz and passed away in January 2024.
Reflecting on his political struggles, speakers highlighted that Pirzado was an active political worker from his student days and was imprisoned during General Zia-ul-Haq’s dictatorial regime due to his political beliefs. Despite his detention, Pirzado took his ninth-grade examinations as a political prisoner from Karachi Prison.
KPC Vice President Irshad Khokhar, along with Mahesh Kumar, Abdullah Sarohi, Javed Mahar, Aijaz Mangi, Younis Mahar, Zulfiqar Wahoocho, Abida Ghanghro, Aamir Latif, Imtiaz Faran, Waris Raza, and others, also addressed the gathering and offered their sincere tributes to the late journalist.
