KARACHI, Jan 28: Senior journalist and esteemed member of the Karachi Press Club (KPC), Zulf Pirzado, was honored with deep respect during a commemorative program held at the KPC on Wednesday, marking his second death anniversary.
During the event, speakers lauded the late journalist for his lifelong dedication to journalism and unwavering commitment to social justice.
The gathering featured addresses by Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili, Dr. Jabbar Khatak, and Virsa Pirzado, the daughter of Zulf Pirzado.
Speakers described Zulf Pirzado as a principled and dedicated journalist, consistently advocating for societal improvement and the rights of ordinary people.
Zulf Pirzado, who once served as Deputy Editor of the Sindhi daily Awami Awaz, passed away in January 2024.
Reflecting on his political endeavors, it was noted that Pirzado had been a political activist since his student years. He was imprisoned during General Zia-ul-Haq’s dictatorial regime because of his political beliefs. Despite his incarceration, he took his ninth-grade exams from Karachi Prison as a political prisoner.
KPC Vice President Irshad Khokhar, along with Mahesh Kumar, Abdullah Sarohi, Javed Mahar, Aijaz Mangi, Younis Mahar, Zulfiqar Wahoocho, Abida Ghanghro, Aamir Latif, Imtiaz Faran, Waris Raza, and others, also spoke at the event, offering heartfelt tributes to the late journalist.
