ISLAMABAD, January 28: Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized the necessity of lasting peace for the development and prosperity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the merged districts. He made these statements during a meeting with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at his residence, according to a news release from the Presidency.
Governor Kundi updated the Acting President regarding the temporary evacuation from Tirah Valley due to severe snowfall and detailed the relief measures being implemented to aid the affected population.
The Governor noted that the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), along with its merged districts branch, was actively involved in assisting the displaced families. PRCS staff swiftly delivered food items, medicines, and other essential relief to those stranded by the heavy snowfall in Tirah. Furthermore, relief goods were distributed to temporarily displaced persons from the valley located in Tehsil Bara, with continued support assured.
Acting President Gilani expressed solidarity with those evacuated from Tirah Valley, acknowledging the significant sacrifices made by the people of the Khyber district and other merged areas for the country and the nation. He honored their bravery and resilience in the battle against terrorism.
He reiterated that sustained peace is crucial for the province to pursue a path of development and prosperity, noting that the advancement and welfare of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the merged districts, remain a national priority.
Governor Kundi appreciated the Acting President’s concern and support for the affected communities and provided further details on the ongoing efforts to ensure relief and rehabilitation in the region.
The meeting also reviewed the overall situation in the province, focusing on law and order as well as governance matters.
